Believe With Your Whole Heart In Jesus!
Exodus 32:1 New International Version
The Golden Calf 32 When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods[a] who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.”

In his Large Catechism, Martin Luther wrote: “What does it mean to have a god? or, what is God? Answer: A god means that from which we are to expect all good and to which we are to take refuge in all distress, so that to have a God is nothing else than to trust and believe Him from the [whole] heart; as I have often said that the confidence and faith of the heart alone make both God and an idol.” The Israelites needed a physical object to place their trust in. An invisible God who sent plagues and led them by a pillar of fire was not good enough. We do this with Jesus. We “need” money, health, wealth, etc. instead of a God who dies and rises to love and forgive us.
