Daily in Our Normal Life...You are God's Chosen Child!

Mark 1:9-13 New International Version (NIV)

The Baptism and Testing of Jesus 9 At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” 12 At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness, 13 and he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted[a] by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.

Monday - January 25 A wedding day is a wonderful moment filled with joy and celebration. After the wedding, many couples take a “honeymoon” to some fun location where they can get away from normal life and simply be together. Sooner or later they have to go back to that “normal life” which includes many things that are not fun, joyful or wonderful. Things like jobs, bills, dirty dishes, etc. When Jesus was baptized he received a promise from His heavenly Father. The Father said to Jesus, “You are my beloved Son.” That is Jesus’s identity. God has called Him, named Him, chosen Him, and loved Him. Then, God’s Holy Spirit leads Jesus out into the wilderness where the “normal life” of being a human sets in. Satan tries to tempt Jesus. “Does God really love you? Are you really God’s beloved Son? You don’t look like God’s Son!” Like Jesus this is our “normal life” of faith. God has spoken His promise to you! In Christ, you are beloved by God. You are God’s child.
