Eternal Health

Saturday - March 28 - Read John 9:35-41

John 9:35-41

35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and having found him he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” 36 He answered, “And who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?” 37 Jesus said to him, “You have seen him, and it is he who is speaking to you.” 38 He said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him. 39 Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.” 40 Some of the Pharisees near him heard these things, and said to him, “Are we also blind?” 41 Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no guilt; but now that you say, ‘We see,’ your guilt remains.

Physical healing is great. We should give thanks everyday for doctors, nurses, physical therapists and every health professional! However, having a physically healthy life is not the same as having eternal life. Jesus finds the formerly blind man who has been cast out from religious and community life. At this point the man could see Jesus, but he did not know who Jesus was. He needed Jesus to speak the words of truth that create faith. God has chosen to work in the world through the proclamation of the Gospel. This is our calling as followers of Jesus. We are called to speak the truth of God’s love and forgiveness to our family, friends, neighbors, and the whole world!

Prayer:

Lord of grace and mercy, please protect the doctors and nurses as they serve those who are hurting and in need. Watch over their families and keep them safe. Give them your grace and fill them with Your Holy Spirit so that they would know how deeply you love them. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

P.S. We hope that you will join us for worship tomorrow at 10am live on our church facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/stjohnsflanagan/
