Every Knee Will Bow Before Him!

Philippians 2:8-11 New International Version (NIV)

8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Thursday - April 1

Who would you “bow the knee” or “pledge allegiance” to? Have you seen Jesus in glory? I haven’t! I am looking forward to it, but I haven’t seen it yet. As the prophet Zechariah put it, we are “prisoners of hope” (Zech. 9:12). It is true that we can confidently believe in the resurrection and ascension of Jesus, but none of us have actually seen “every knee” in heaven and on earth and under the earth bowing before him. Instead, what this world has seen is a man dying on a cross who rose again to defeat death. So, in certain and sure hope we look forward to that day when every knee will bow before him alone. This is a foregone conclusion. It has been accomplished already. Sin is a state of rebellion. One day that will cease completely. All that will remain is the love of God in Christ Jesus. Every knee will bow to that love.
