God Always Loves Us and Cares for Us!

Genesis 16:1-2

New International Version

Hagar and Ishmael 16 Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian slave named Hagar; 2 so she said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai said.

In Genesis 12 and 15, God promised Abram a child. Sarai, Abram's wife, was never explicitly mentioned, though, implied since she was his wife at the time. When God first made that promise she was about 65 with no children. Now she is roughly 75 and still has no children. The time for her to have children was over and she blamed God. There are times in our lives when thing do not go the way that they are supposed to go. A couple is infertile. A healthy person who exercises often has a heart attack. A college graduate cannot find a good enough job to pay off their student loans. Where is God? What does God think about us? Has God abandoned us? Is it God's "fault"? Jesus has come to proclaim to us that God has not and will never abandon us. He has revealed that God always loves us and cares for us.
