Have Faith in His Word!

Mark 13:32-37 New International Version

The Day and Hour Unknown 32 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Be on guard! Be alert[a]! You do not know when that time will come. 34 It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. 35 “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. 36 If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. 37 What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’”

Friday - November 26

Jesus said that no one knows when His return will be except for the Father. It will happen, but we don’t when. What we do know is that he wants us to “stay awake.” He gives a short parable to illustrate what he means. He, like the master, has gone away. He has given all his people their own work to do. He also has a “doorkeeper” whose job it is to “stay awake.” The doorkeeper made sure bad people stayed out and good people were let in. He had a job to do! But he would not be able to do his job if he was asleep. If the master finally returned and the doorkeeper was asleep then the master would know he was not doing his job! So… do your job! Stay awake, which is Jesus’ way of saying, “Have faith.” Have faith in his Word of promise that never passes away. Have faith that you are forgiven, loved, and redeemed.
