Holy Spirit Gives Birth to Your FAITH in Your Newborn Heart!

John 3:6-9 New International Version (NIV)

6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[a] gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You[b] must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”[c] 9 “How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.

Friday - March 12

The Jewish people believed they were God’s children by birth. They were biological descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The twelve tribes of “Israel” (the name God gave to Jacob in Genesis 32:28) are descendants of the twelve sons of Jacob. King David was a descendant of Jacob’s son, Judah. However, Jesus says that your biological family does not give you spiritual access to the kingdom of God! That was shocking to Nicodemus! “How can these things be?” Because God never meant for biological birth to give kingdom access. What God gave Abraham was a promise! So… what is born of the Spirit? Faith! Only the Holy Spirit can give birth to faith in God’s promises. The primary work of the Holy Spirit is to give birth to faith and grow faith in your newborn heart! As Genesis 15:6 says, “[Abraham] believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as righteousness.”
