In Baptism...Jesus claimed You...You are a Sheep!

Matthew 25:33-34 New International Version (NIV)

33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. Tue. October 13 In 1952 Disney produced and released a short cartoon by Jack Hannah called “Lambert the Sheepish Lion.” In the cartoon a stork visits a flock of sheep to drop off their babies, but makes a mistake. He delivers a baby lion to one of the ewes. This lion, named Lambert, grows up with the flock. He is ridiculed and made fun by the other sheep. He is not one of them until one day he saves the entire flock from a wolf because he is, after all, a lion who can easily beat up a wolf! But that’s the point. He is a lion, not a sheep! Even though they come to accept him he is still a lion. If he wasn’t then they would have been devoured by the wolf. In this parable of the sheep and the goats nothing the sheep do make them “good” or righteous. They are already sheep and the goats are already goats! Nothing they do will change this fact. Who are you? Are you already a lamb in the flock of God? Are you already a sheep who hears the voice of the Good Shepherd? (John 10:3-4). In baptism Jesus claimed you as his own. You do not need to be afraid! You are his sheep.
