Jesus Came...and Simply Forgave US!

Romans 5:6-11 New International Version (NIV)

6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Friday - June 19 - Read Romans 5:6-11 Have you ever been in a bitter argument with someone you love, like a friend or spouse? Those situations are often quite painful. There are feelings of anger, sadness, frustration, and much more. That pain is not taken away until you are reconciled. However, reconciliation is hard. Usually someone has to apologize. Or someone might have to swallow their pain and offer forgiveness. I say it a lot, but it needs to be repeated. SIN is not just doing bad things like telling a lie. SIN is the disease that causes all the bad stuff. SIN is our broken relationship with God. Jesus entered into this world to deal with our SIN problem through forgiveness. The amazing thing is that we didn’t even ask for it. We did not apologize first. Jesus came and simply forgave us and continues to forgive us. When we trust and believe in the forgiveness that he gives we are also given a new, reconciled relationship with God.
