Jesus Gives Us a New Relationship!

Mark 1:38-39 New International Version (NIV)
38 Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” 39 So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.

Why did Jesus leave the quiet, peaceful life of the small town of Nazareth and “come out” into public ministry? Was it to go around healing every physical need that the world has? We believe that one day Jesus will “come out” and do that very thing! However, right now he has “come out” to proclaim the Gospel of the kingdom of God. This is shocking to some and disappointing to others. How do you think all those people back in town who did not get their chance at healing feel about that statement?! Yet, that is what Jesus said his primary mission was: proclamation. He wants as many people as possible to know that they are forgiven and loved by God. He came out to reconcile the world to God and give us all a new relationship of grace and mercy with our Heavenly Father.
