Love Seeks to Serve Others!

1 Corinthians 1:10 New International Version

A Church Divided Over Leaders 10 I appeal to you, brothers and sisters,[a] in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.

Monday - September 19

We are living in a deeply divided America. This is not the only time nor the worst time that Americans have been divided. That would be the Civil War! Unity is extremely difficult. In this verse, the Apostle Paul “urges” the divided Christians in the city of Corinth to be united in “mind and thought.” In Philippians 2:5 Paul says that we should have the same mindset as Christ who others ahead of Himself. That is called “love.” Divisions are rooted in seeking our own agendas. Love seeks to serve others. What agendas do you have? Do you seek to control situations in life? Or are you seeking to serve the needs of others in love? The death of Jesus puts an end to our agendas and forgives us for our self-centered lives. Jesus unites as sinners who have been forgiven and frees us to live in the unity of love for each other.
