Sharing the Kingdom of God to Others!

Luke 4:42-44 New International Version

42 At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. 43 But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” 44 And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.

When Jesus lived 2000 years ago as a normal human being (though still God!) He was confined to a single place and time, just like you and me. I’m sure that the people of Capernaum would have loved it if he would stay in their town all the time and constantly heal them. Broken bone? Fever? Heart attack? Call Jesus! But Jesus said that the proclamation of the Gospel was the reason he came! And he wanted more people to hear it! He wanted more people to have their sins forgiven and receive the mercy of God. He wanted to bring more and more people into God’s kingdom. This is why we exist as a church, too. We are an outpost of the Holy Spirit’s continued work to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus. This is also why we support missionaries and help plant new churches. Like Jesus, let us “preach the kingdom of God to other towns as well.”
