15 For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. 16 To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task?
Friday - September 9 Paul makes an astonishing claim. When God gives us the Holy Spirit that means we have the “mind of Christ.” That means we can look at the world as it really is. As the world pursues power we know that what we really need is to surrender power to God. As the world seeks salvation through technology we know that salvation comes through death. As the world pursues happiness we know that it is merely a feeling that comes and goes while peace and joy are constant gifts that are freely given. A self-help book can be really good in making you a better public speaker or when learning to code, but self improvement will not earn you love. Love is freely given by the lover. The “mind of Christ” is love and mercy.
