Acts 2:19-21 New International Version (NIV)
19 I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 20 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. 21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’[a]

Peter’s quotation of the prophet Joel finishes with an incredible promise:
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Don’t believe
that promise? Well, look at Jesus! Look how not even death could defeat
him. We might have a headache, a bad year in the field, a virus that shuts
down world economies, but nothing can stop the Lord from saving those
who call on His name, which is another way of saying “those who
surrender.” God saves those who give up the rebellion of self-worship and
let God be God. To call upon the name of the Lord means to give up control
and trust that He really does love us. It means to cling to Jesus who gives
true peace with God and hope for an eternal future.
