What Does Jesus Do For US-Forgives Us EVERY Time?

Luke 6:27-31 New International Version

Love for Enemies 27 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

We all want love, kindness, respect, honor, and help in times of need. We want those things from God! I’ve heard stories about strict atheists crying out to God when faced with their own death. Yet, we often don’t want to give all those things to others… especially our enemies! The last three days we have seen that Jesus came to save his enemies… you and me! Yes, we are his enemies. Here is where the Law comes in. Every time you do NOT do what God commands you to do then YOU ARE GOD’S ENEMY! You stand against God’s will. Every time we stand against God’s will WE ARE Satan, just like Peter who told Jesus that he was not allowed to die on a cross (see Mark 8:33, Matt. 16:23). Yet, what did Jesus do for Peter? He forgave him! And he forgives you and me. Every time. All the time. There is no hostility between us and God. Jesus has removed it all. THAT is good news!
