What Needs Burying in Your Life so YOU Can Stand Firm in Christ Jesus?

John 2:13-17 New International Version (NIV)

Jesus Clears the Temple Courts 13 When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. 15 So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. 16 To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!” 17 His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.”[a]

Monday - March 8 - Read John 2:13-17

Jacinda and I have no children in diapers! Celebration! Some people have said to us, “Just wait, you’re going to miss those days.” I can honestly and emphatically say: “Nope!” I understand what they mean. I will miss certain parts of those baby years, but every stage of life is unique and special. The hard part is the dying. Life is actually filled with what I call “little deaths.” When Jesus showed up there was no more need for a temple. God wasn’t “living” there anymore. He was on the loose! When Jesus showed up in the temple courtyards he was overtly and emphatically declaring that the temple was dead. Even the sacrificial system was dead. They were no longer necessary. Jesus strips it all away and all that is left is Himself. What are you holding onto that needs to die so that you can live in freedom with Christ?
