Where Does God put You Today?

Ruth 2:1-3 New International Version (NIV)

Ruth Meets Boaz in the Grain Field

Now Naomi had a relative on her husband’s side, a man of standing from the clan of Elimelek, whose name was Boaz.

And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor.”

Naomi said to her, “Go ahead, my daughter.” So she went out, entered a field and began to glean behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she was working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelek.

Tues. November 3

I love the little phrase, “As it turned out…” Another translation says, “she happened to come…” Have you ever had something simply “happen” that led to God’s blessing? Maybe you “happened” to fall in love without expecting it. “As it turns out” God can and does use ordinary “happenings” in our lives to bring about His good plan. Ruth was not planning to end up in the field of a man named Boaz who would become her future husband, it just happened. Yet, that happening is what God used to bless her and her mother-in-law, Naomi. Ask God to put you in places today where you just “happen” to receive His blessing. But also ask God to use you as a blessing in the lives of others that just “happen” to cross your path today. Let us ask God to transform our everyday “happenings” into moments where His kingdom of love, grace, mercy and blessing breaks through!
