Luke 24:21-24 New International Version (NIV)
21 but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. 22 In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning 23 but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. 24 Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.”
Wednesday - April 29 - Read Luke 24:21-24 In ancient Jewish society women were not considered reliable witnesses. “Hystericus” was Latin for “womb” and hysteria was the idea that women were too emotional to be reliable witnesses. Don’t shoot me! I’m just sharing historical context!. These men do not seem to put much stock in what the women say. The men probably thought the women were hysterical with grief over the loss of Jesus and wanted to believe that he was not dead. If he was alive, then why wouldn’t he show himself? Jesus is showing them, and us, that it doesn't matter who preaches the Gospel. It could be a pastor or a small child, a missionary or a farmer. God can and will use you if you focus on Him and what he has done for you.
