Breaking Bread with the Messiah!

Their faith didn't know what their eyes were seeing!

Luke 24:32-36 New International Version (NIV)

32 They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

33 They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34 and saying, “It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.” 35 Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.

Jesus Appears to the Disciples

36 While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

Saturday - May 2 - Read Luke 24:32-36 The men have not been on a journey towards faith in Jesus. Instead, Jesus has revealed how blind and faithless they are. Now they see the truth. They know that Jesus has been resurrected, but they still do not have the faith that saves. Why? Because what does Jesus actually think about them? Is he going to punish them for their pride and arrogance? Is Jesus going to condemn all the disciples for their lack of faith and abandoning him when they should have been ready for his resurrection? What does God think of them… and us when we are unfaithful? When Jesus arrived and when he

comes to us what does he say? “Peace be with you.”
