Forgiveness, Mercy, and Love of God Flows to Your Heart!

Isaiah 25:6-9 New International Version

6 On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine— the best of meats and the finest of wines. 7 On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; 8 he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The Lord has spoken.

9 In that day they will say,

“Surely this is our God;

we trusted in him, and he saved us.

This is the Lord, we trusted in him;

let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”

Thursday - January 20

We just finished celebrating Christmas. But think about all the time, preparation and excitement that went into that period of waiting before Christmas Day finally arrived! Try to remember when you were a child waiting for that break from school and then finally going to bed on Christmas Eve with that great sense of expectation. This proclamation from the prophet Isaiah describes a day when God will prepare a great feast filled with rich, delicious food and “well-aged wine.” It is true that in heaven we will enjoy that feast in its fullness, but that feast has already started in Jesus! The “well-aged” wine of the forgiveness, mercy, and love of God is already flowing out from the wounds of Jesus into our hearts. Jesus has already “swallowed up” the “veil” of death that is spread over all the nations. More specifically, He has swallowed up your death and given you His life!
