God Came Down to Us...Jesus Died for Each of US!

Philippians 2:5-7 New International Version (NIV)

5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature[a] God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature[b] of a servant, being made in human likeness.

I recently watched the ESPN documentary “Bo Knows” about the football and baseball star, Bo Jackson. One commentator believes that Bo was the greatest American athlete since Jim Thorpe, who excelled in professional baseball, football, and basketball and won an Olympic gold in the Pentathlon and Decathlon. Another said that the reason why we love athletes like Thorpe and Jackson is because they fill us with awe, as if they are demi-gods. Being god-like has always fascinated us as humans. We desire to get “up to” God or we are fascinated by those who seem to be. This is also why we are fascinated by great religious leaders like the Pope or Dalai Lama. But God “came down” to us. Jesus came to serve, forgive and die for you.
