God opens the gate through Jesus

John 10:7-8 New International Version (NIV)

7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them.

Wednesday - May 6 - Read John 10:7-8 In Genesis 3:24 God banished Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden and blocked the way back in. If Adam and Eve continued to have access to the tree of life they could live forever in a state of rebellion against God. God would not allow this because God wanted to save them. This is why he sent Jesus. Jesus is our way “back in.” Now there is nothing that separates us from God. Our sin has been washed away and we have free and total access to God. The problem is that we cannot get there on our own. God’s love was never something that we could earn or “get to!” His love was and always will be a free gift. Jesus is “the gate” that gives us access to God’s eternal love.
