John 14:7-9 New International Version (NIV) 7 If you really know me, you will know[a] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” 8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” 9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Wednesday - May 13 - Read John 14:7-9
I find great comfort in the way that Jesus speaks to the disciples. On one
hand he seems a bit exasperated. However, he patiently answers their
questions. He even uses their questions as an opportunity to help them
grow in their understanding of God. We might not have everything in life
figured out. We might not know exactly what God is doing or why God has
allowed certain things to happen. But just like he did with the disciples,
Jesus reminds us that he IS GOD and he is in communion with God, the
Father. In other words, if you want to know God then get to know Jesus. If
you want to know what God thinks about you then look at what Jesus has
done for you. Jesus is patient. He listens to our prayers and he will continue
to help us grow deeper in faith and know Him more personally.
