Have Faith!

Matthew 13:33-35 New International Version (NIV)

33 He told them still another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds[a] of flour until it worked all through the dough.”

34 Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. 35 So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet: “I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.” Friday, July 24 - Matthew 13:33-35 Jesus was not trying to create a group of elite insiders who could gain entrance into the kingdom of God by deciphering riddles. Instead, the parables of Jesus are given to help us all understand and grow in our faith! What the parables reveal is our hearts. Do we actually want to sit at the feet of Jesus and learn from him? Do we actually want to trust in the “hidden” kingdom of God that is at work in this world? For example, there is an election coming up. Voting is important and participating in

civic life is good. However, we place so much time, money, and energy into politics

because it is visible and obvious. We can count the votes and see whether “our guy”

or “their guy” won. We can push for implementation of policies that we believe are

right. But not with God. We are not in control God or God’s kingdom. God will do

the work of his kingdom as he sees fit. We simply have to trust that GOD is doing

what He has promised to do. This is why some people “understand” Jesus’s

parables and some do not. We desire certainty and control. Jesus calls us to faith.
