I Will Pour Out My Spirit...

Acts 2:16-18 New International Version (NIV)

16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

17 “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.

Friday - June 5 - Read Acts 2:16-18

Many people are fascinated by the idea of the end of the world. This is not

limited to Christianity, either. The “apocalypse” is fascinating. But if the

prophecy that Peter quotes was fulfilled 2000 years ago then that means we

are still in the “last days.” In other words, the Savior has come and the war

has been won. For some reason, God has allowed the enemy to remain, but

he will not win the war. As Martin Luther wrote in his famous hymn, A

Mighty Fortress: “ The prince of darkness grim, we tremble not for him; his

rage we can endure, for lo! his doom is sure.” And we are not alone. The

Holy Spirit is fighting with us and through us. God is using us to fight back

against evil and bring more people into the Kingdom.
