Matthew 13:44-46 New International Version (NIV)
The Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl
44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. Saturday, July 25 - Matthew 13:44-46 In the parable of the pearl, the merchant’s job is to find pearls. He goes from market to market looking for pearls that divers have found in the sea. Jesus says that he is like that merchant and he is searching for us! (Luke 15:1-10). In
Philippians 2:6-7 the Apostle Paul wrote: “ [Jesus], being in very nature God, did not
consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he
made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human
likeness.” Why?! To save us! In God’s eyes WE are the precious pearl of great value.
Jesus decided that we were so valuable to him that he would sacrifice everything he
had in order to get us! Even his own life.
