Jesus Wrote a New Story for...Us!

Matthew 28:16-18 New International Version (NIV) The Great Commission 16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Tuesday - June 9 - Read Matthew 28:16-18 Jesus was present with the Father and the Holy Spirit for all eternity before God authored the creation of all things. But he gave that authority up to enter into the story of creation. Now, after his resurrection, God the Father has given back to him “all authority in heaven and earth.” What this specifically means is that he has the authority to use his words to author the new life of those who die. Death seems like the greatest authority in our lives. When death “speaks” it seems final and unchangeable. However, Jesus has now been given even greater authority than death, so that what HE says is the only thing that matters. What does Jesus say about us? That we are forgiven of our sins and declared children of God forever!
