The Death of Jesus is Where We Find Life!

2 Corinthians 2:6-7 New International Version

6 The punishment inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient. 7 Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.

Tuesday - September 6

Death leads to life. Defeat leads to victory. Forgiveness leads to peace and reconciliation. Suffering produces strength and patience. All this seems silly to us. We want comfort not suffering. We don’t want to die. We want justice not forgiveness. The wisdom of God seems foolish to the wise of this world, but Jesus is the mystery that God has hidden since before time began. The death of Jesus is where we find life. The defeat of the cross is where we are given victory. When Jesus forgives us we are reconciled to God and given true peace. When we suffer we have confidence that God will never abandon us or forsake us. This is the wisdom that makes us mature in Christ.
