Through Baptism...You Are in His Family!

Matthew 28:18-20 New International Version (NIV)

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Thursday - June 11 - Read Matthew 28:18-20 When a baby is born into a family they do not choose that family. They also do not earn the right to be a part of the family. The same is true of God’s family. Whether a baby or an adult is baptized they are born into the kingdom of God by God, not through any effort of their own. When you were baptized you were personally given forgiveness of all your sins, the promise of eternal life, the new birth of the Holy Spirit and the right to be called a child of God. You did not do anything. Jesus did all the work and the Spirit gave it to you personally. We get to be “co-authors” in this new creation process! That might be for our own children, a friend, or even a stranger. God is calling us to give away His love, forgiveness and grace.
