6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Like the Israelites who were healed by looking to the serpent in the wilderness (Num. 21), we have new life in Christ already. Eternal life has started now. We are free from sin, death and the devil. In other words, your future and the future of all things is secure in Christ Jesus. You don’t have to work to procure a good future. You don’t have to strive to perfect your life or this world. God has that covered. Now, you can go and live each day doing what God has called you to do: love. Love and serve the people around you. Provide for your family. Bless your neighbor. Be a faithful and trustworthy worker. Be an honest and reliable friend. Knowing that the future is secure means we are truly free to live and love today with joy and peace!
